took a lovely drive up to the mountains to visit my dearest frances, who invited me to spend the weekend with her and her fam to celebrate the highly anticipated 'christmas in july in august'. we enjoyed the whole shebang; a roast dinner, a montage of elvis and bing singing christmas songs on the turntable, sipping that scrummy spiced mead, boiling the pudding and wearing nanna's home made festive felt crowns.
there's nothing like the crisp mountain air, a log fire, silly presents under the christmas branch, and snagging the good beds before they are all claimed by reletives. oh, and a questionable game of badminton in the backyard. if only i'd remembered to buy film!
